Stormzy Biography
Stormzy is a British rapper and songwriter born Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. in 1993. He was born and raised in London, United Kingdom, and began rapping in his teenage years. Stormzy soon started freestyling and continued this habit after he attended university. He would garner local attention from the underground scene before releasing his debut EP Dreamers Disease in 2014.
Stromzy continued dropping music as an independent artist and attracted attention from major publications over the next couple of years. He would then take 2016 off as a hiatus and return in 2017 to prepare for his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer.
Stormzy’s debut album peaked at #1 on the UK charts and #1 on the Ireland charts as well. It was certified Platinum by the BPI and received great critical acclaim. Stromzy has had five sin goes certified Silver and three certified Platinum. His most popular single to date has been “Vossi Bop,” which topped the UK charts.
Stromzy recently released his second album, Heavy is the Head, and it debuted at #2 on the UK charts, as well as charting well in Irland, Norway, New Zealand, and Switzerland, among others.
