The actor and singer Kevon Edmonds grew up in the shadows of his older brother Kenneth Babyface Edmonds, who grew to fame in the 1980’s. Kevon initially did not express the same interest in music as his sibling, although in his teenage years he began to join the local school choirs and perform on occasion publicly. Kevon’s talents were evident from a young age, just as they had been with Babyface, but it wasn’t until he joined the group After 7 that Kevon Edmond’s career as a performer began to take off.
With After 7, Kevon enjoyed significant success and became part of one of the country’s most successful R&B groups of the 1990’s. After the release of their album Reflections in 1995, the group embarked on a hiatus which allowed individual members to pursue careers on their own. Kevon, at this time, began performing with Babyface and other artists, eventually releasing his own solo album, 24/7, in 1999. The album’s title track rose to the top ten on the mainstream charts, and the second release, “No Love (I’m Not Used To),” also fared well.
Although it was another ten years before Kevon Edmonds released any new material, Who Knew arrived in 2009 and again brought Kevon significant success. Kevon Edmonds has plans to return to the studio again very soon for another upcoming album and he has announced plans for performances in the near future as well.
