The American R&B singer Carl Thomas was born in 1972 in the Chicago area. Carl grew up singing around his local area in various groups, until he left for New York City in pursuit of a full-time career as a performer. There he embraced every open-mic opportunity available, and the effort paid off one evening when his performance was spotted by Sean Combs.
Combs signed Carl Thomas to his label, Bad Boy Entertainment, in 1997. His debut single, “I Wish,” arrived two years later and rose to the top of the R&B charts, setting the stage for Thomas’s successful album debut, Emotional (2000.) The album spawned the additional hits “Summer Rain” and “Emotional,” bringing the album to platinum status and setting the stage for the next decades of Thomas’s career.
Since that time, Carl Thomas has released the albums Let’s Talk About It (2004), So Much Better (2007), and Conquer (2011.) The albums have featured the additional chart-topping R&B hits “Can’t Believe” (with Faith Evans), “She Is,” “Make It Alright,” “2 Pieces,” and “Don’t Kiss Me.” In addition, Carl Thomas collaborated with Yolanda Adams and Chaka Khan on the song “Everyday (Family Reunion)” which was featured on the soundtrack to the film Madea’s Family Reunion and which earned the trio a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
