The American R&B singer Chante Torrane Moore was born in 1967 in San Francisco. As a young girl, Chante discovered her talents in music while singing in the family’s church choir. After wining a number of beauty pageants as a teenager, first began a modeling career until she was discovered at the age of twenty-two by a representative from MCA Records.
Chante Moore signed with the label in the early 2000’s, and released her debut album Precious in 1992. The album rose to the top twenty on the R&B charts and spawned the top ten R&B single “Love’s Taken Over.” The album was followed by three more albums from Chante Moore: A Love Supreme (1994), This Moment is Mine (1999), and Exposed (2000), all of which rose to the top ten on the R&B charts and which gave audiences the hits “It’s Alright,” “Who Do I Turn To?,” “As If We Never Met,” “Old School Lovin’,” “This Time,” “I’m What You Need,” “Chante’s Got a Man,” and “Straight Up.”
In 2003, Chante married R&B singer Kenny Lattimore and the two began releasing albums together. As a duo, Chante and Kenny have released: Things That Lovers Do (2003), Uncovered/Covered (2006), Love the Woman (2008), and Moore is More (2013.) Although the two have continued to perform and record together, Chante Moore has continued to also work as a solo artist, recently releasing her sixth studio album and launching a limited run at Bally’s in Las Vegas.
In addition to her solo work and collaborations with Lattimore, Chante Moore has also contributed vocals to works by other artists, most notably El DeBarge (for “You Know What I Like”); R. Kelly and the Isley Brothers (“Contagious”); and Boyz II Men (“Your Home is In My heart”), which appears on the soundtrack for How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
