The rap artist and producer known as Anderson Paak was born Brandon Park Anderson in 1986 in Oxnard, California. Paak developed an interest in music very early in his life, and by the time he was a teenager he was recording and producing his own material in his bedroom. He also began performing as a drummer in his local family church, but by the early 2010’s, Anderson had determined to pursue a career as a musician full-time.
Anderson Paak entered the studio and began to record material for his debut album. The result, the album Venice, arrived in 2014 and was an immediate hit. The album featured the hit singles, “Drugs,” “Miss Right,” “Might Be,” “Luh You,” and “Off the Ground.” In addition, during this time Anderson Paak appeared as a guest artist on multiple songs by other performers, including: Dumfoundead (“Cell Phone,” “Bitch,” “Body High,” “Drinking Alone”); Verbs (“Sing My Song,” “Much Better”); Watsky (“Stand for Something,” “Ink Don’t Bleed,” “Hand Over Hand”); and Dr. Dre and Ice Cub, on the Compton compilation album (“All in a Day’s Work,” “Issues,” “Deep Water,” “For the Love of Money,” “Animals,” and “Medicine Man.”)
Anderson Paak recently released his latest album, Malibu, in 2016, which features the hits “Am I Wrong,” “Come Down,” “The Season/Carry Me,” “Room in Here,” and “The Dreamer.” Paak is also currently featured on the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis hit, “Dance Off.”
