LA The Darkman Biography
The American rapper known as LA the Darkman was born Lason Jackson in New York. Young Lason grew up in Brooklyn, and immediately after finishing high school he teamed up with members of the Wu Tang Clan to begin pursuit of a career as a rapper. In 1998, LA the Darkman released his debut album, Heist of the Century, and began touring with Wu Tang Clan to further bolster support.
Heist of the Century featured the single “ I Want It All,” but failed to garner significant acclaim or commercial success. For the remainder of the 1990’s and into the new millennium, LA the Darkman continued to produce and record, often as a guest artist or in special appearance. Notable works to which LA the Darkman contributed his production or performance talents include: Uncontrolled Substance – Inspectah Deck (1999); Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (soundtrack) (1999); Bi-Polar – Vanilla Ice (2001); 4:21…. The Day After – Method Man (2006), and Gangsta Grillz Vol 1 & 2 – DJ Drama (2007 – 2009.) In addition, during this time LA the Darkman also established his own management company, striking a deal with Universal Records.
LA the Darkman had been off the radar for the better part of the 2000’s, until in 2014, he resurfaced with his latest solo album, LA Paraphernalia EP. LA the Darkman is expected to continue to perform and record in the coming years.
