Lil Cease Biography
The American rapper known as Lil’ Cease was born James Lloyd in 1977. Lil’ Cease first rose to prominence as a member of the hip hop group Junior M.A.F.I.A. The group burst onto the music scene with the release of their debut album, Conspiracy, in 1995. The album featured the song “Player’s Anthem,” which became Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s biggest hit, rising into the top twenty on the mainstream charts and reaching gold status.
Under the tutelage of Notorious B.I.G., Lil’ Cease released his solo album, The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo, in 1999. The album rose into the top five on the R&B/hip=hop charts, and into the top forty on the mainstream charts. Contributions by such notable performers as Lil’ Kim and Jay-Z further bolstered Lil’ Cease’s highly successful debut, although during this time Lil’ Cease continued to perform and record with M.A.F.I.A.
Lil’ Cease has also appeared as a guest artist over the years, for a number of notable performers. Collaborations include: “Crush on You” (with Lil’ Kim); “Lose My Cool” (with SWV); “I’m Going Out” (with Mobb Deep); “What’s His Name?” (with DJ Whoo Kid, Notorious B.I.G., and others); “Set Us Free” (with Ameer); “Talk Go Through Us” (with Fabolous); “Own Man” (with Chinx Drugz); and “Bury the Hatchet” (with DJ Kay Slay and Outlawz.)
