Tony Yayo Biography
The rapper known as Tony Yayo was born Marvin Bernard in 1978 in New York. Bernard grew up in the Queens area of New York, where he was influenced by the burgeoning hip hop and rap scene of the era. In 2003, Tony Yayo was signed to Interscope Records; later that year he appeared on the album Beg for Mercy, with his longtime friend 50 Cent, launching his career as a rap artist.
Two years later, Tony Yayo released his own debut album, Thoughts of a Predicate Felon, in 2005. The album spawned the singles “So Seductive” (featuring 50 Cent); “Drama Setter” (featuring Eminem); “Curious” (featuring Joe); and “I Know You Don’t Love Me” (featuring G-Unit.) Since Thoughts of a Predicate Felon, Tony Yayo has also released four albums in conjunction with G-Unit: Terminate on Sight (2008); The Beauty of Independence (2014) and The Beast Is G-Unit (2015.)
Tony Yayo continues to perform and record, both as a solo performer and in collaboration with other artists such as 50 Cent and G-Unit. Most recently, Yayo announced that he has returned to the studio to prepare for his next studio album, scheduled for release in 2016.
