The American rapper known as Lil Boosie was born Torrence Hatch in 1982 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hatch grew up in a tumultuous and unstable household, and by the time he was a teenager he was looking for a way to rise out of his underprivileged upbringing. Inspired by the local rap scene in the late 1990’s, Lil Boosie teamed up with local rapper C-Loc and five other musicians to form the group Concentration Camp, even though he was only fourteen years old at the time. But by the time he was seventeen, Lil Boosie was ready to launch his own solo career.
Lil Boosie’s debut, Youngest of da Camp, was released in 2000, and in the following year he signed to Trill Entertainment. Since that time, Lil Boosie has released the additional albums: Bad Azz (2006), Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz (2009), Incarcerated (2010), and Touch Down 2 Cause Hell (2015.) Top forty rap and R&B singles from Lil Boosie include: “Zoom,” “Wipe Me Down,” “Better Believe It,” and “Show Da World.” Lil Boosie has also contributed vocals to chart-topping hits by other artists, including: Baby Boy da Prince (“The Way I Live”); Webbie (“Independent”); DJ Kahled (“Out Here Grindin”); and Meek Mill (“FYM.”)
Lil Boosie continues to perform and record. His next album, Boosie Badazz: Bigger and Badder Than Ever, is scheduled for release in the coming year.
