Angel Haze Biography
The rapper and singer known as Angel Haze was born Raykeea Angel Wilson in 1991 in Detroit. Angel Haze grew up inspired by the rap and hip-hop music of the 1990’s, and she spent her formative teenage years learning the art of rap. Barely into her twenties, she recently burst onto the music scene with her debut EP, Reservation, in 2012. The EP was made available for free online and quickly earned Angel Haze significant critical acclaim, garnering her a record deal with Island Records.
Since that time, Angel Haze has released the additional EP New York (2012), the debut album Dirty Gold (2013,), and multiple mixtapes available on digital download: New Moon (2009), Altered Ego (2011), King (2011), Reservation (2012), and Classick (2012.) Angel Haze’s most notable single at this time is the song “Battle Cry,” featuring the artist Sia, which rose to the top twenty position on the UK R&B charts after its release in 2013.
In addition to her own solo work, Angel Haze has appeared in collaboration on a number of songs with other artists, including: “Can’t Trust ‘Em” (with Dizzy Wright); “Freestyle” (with Bassnecta); “Hell Could Freeze” (with Rudimenta); “Shit, Man!” (with Skylar Grey); “Eating Rappers” (with Crudbump); and “I Love You” (with Woodkid.) Most recently, Angel Haze recorded the theme song to the film 22 Jump Street, alongside fellow artist Ludacris.
