The rapper Rich Homie Quan was born in 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. Before rising to fame as one of America’s most notable up and coming rap stars, Rich grew up harboring dreams of playing professional baseball. When those dreams did not materialize, Quan switched to rap as his aspiration, and he began to pursue a career as an artist.
Rich Homie Quan’s debut song, “Differences,” was released in 2012. The single also appeared on Still Going In, his debut mixtape, which began to garner Quan some interest and a growing fan base. Following a tour with Trinidad James in 2013, Quan released the song “Type of Way,” which earned attention from the New York Times and identified Rich as a rising star in the world of rap. The song eventually rose to the number fifty spot on the mainstream charts and garnered the attention of Def Jam Recordings, which offered Rich Homie Quan his first major label recording deal.
Since that time, Rich Homie Quan has released the mixtape I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In, and released the single “Walk Thru,” which rose into the top twenty on the rap charts and almost cracked the top 100 on the mainstream charts. Quan has also appeared as a guest or featured artist on a number of singles for other performers, including: “My Nigga” (with Jeezy and YG); “Ghetto” (with August Alsina); “I Know” (with Yo Gotti); and “Lifestyle” (with Young Thug and Rich Gang.)
Rich Homie Quan is a star on the rise, and definitely one to watch. His debut mixtape, Still Goin’ In, was named as one of the year’s best mixtapes by Rolling Stone, and Quan has recently earned the BET Award for Best New Artist in 2014.
