The American rapper known as Young Buck was born David Darnell Brown in 1981 in Florida. Before he rose to become a music executive and member of the hip-hop group G-Unit, Young Buck started rapping as a teenager, eventually garnering the interest of co-founder of Cash Money Records. After signing with the label, Young Buck toured with Birdman but did not release any material with the label.
Young Buck left Cash Money in 2000, and for a number of years he released collaboration albums with other artists, including: D-Tay (Thuggin’ Till the End); UTP Playas (The Compilation); and Beg for Mercy (with G-Unit.) Ultiately, Young Buck signed with G-Unit Records to release his own solo album, Straight Outta Cashville, in 2004. The album was a surprise hit, rising into the top five on the mainstream charts in the United States and spawning the hit singles “Shorty Wanna Ride” and “Let Me In” (featuring 50 Cent.)
Since Straight Outta Cashville, Young Buck has also released the album Buck the World (2007), which fared as well, rising to the number one spot on both the R&B/hip-hop and rap charts, and to the number three spot on the mainstream charts. Young Buck has also collaborated with other artists on albums in recent years, including: Gang injunction (with JT the Bigga Figga); Salute to the Streetz (Savion Saddam); The Beauty of Independence (with G-Unit); and The Beast Is G-Unit (with G-Unit.)
