The hip hop super-group Slaughterhouse was established in 2008, founded by the already successful rappers Royce da 5’9’’, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, and Crooked I. After performing together for Joe Budden’s album Halfway House, the four musicians decided to form their own group and named themselves after the song they’d recorded together.
The group released their debut album, Slaughterhouse, in 2009 and began work almost immediately on another follow-up album. After signing with Shady Records, Slaughterhouse released an additional self-titled EP in 2011, and then Welcome to: Our House in 2012. The album spawned the singles “Hammer Dance,” “My Life” (featuring Cee Lo Green), “Throw It Away” (featuring Swizz Beatz), “Goodbye,” and “Throw That,” which features a guest appearance from Eminem.
Slaughterhouse continues to perform as a group, although the individual members continue to work on their own solo projects and projects with other musicians. Slaughterhouse recently released the album Glass House (2014), and has plans to write and record future albums and singles together.
