Jabbawockeez Biography
The hip-hop dance crew Jabbawockeez was established in 2003 in San Diego, California. The group, which wanted to showcase freestyle dance, adopted a style which included their trademark white masks and gloves, and began performing in 2004. Today, the group has grown to twelve members, but the group’s debut in 2007 on the second season of America’s Got Talent with nine members.
After their elimination from the show, Jabbawockeez appeared on America’s Best Dance Crew in 2008, this time going on to become the winners of the reality competition. The group then began to appear in a number of television commercials (including ones for Gatorade and Pepsi), and performed on a number of television programs. When the 1990’s hit boy-band New Kids on the Block resurfaced in the new millennium with new material, Jabbawockeez joined them on tour for many of their performances, and in 2009, the group toured Australia.
Since 2010, Jabbawockeez has performed in Las Vegas, first at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino and then later at the Luxor Hotel and Casino and then the MGM Grand. In 2012, Jabbawockeez became the first dance crew to earn the Living Legend of Hip Hop Award from Hip Hop International.
