Young Dolph is an American emcee and performer born in 1985. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, but raised in Memphis, Tennesse. In 2008 after close personal tragedies, he would pursue music and begin rapping, seeing his first bits of success in 2015 with his feature verse on O.T. Genasis’ “Cut It.” The following year, Dolph would be subject to a suspected hit he would end up surviving without injury, and he would use this to highlight his second album Bulletproof.
By 2018, Dolph was seeing success on the charts with a myriad of project releases under the Paper Route Empire label and songs like “100 Shots” and his breakout single “Major.” The following year, the project Dum and Dummer with fellow rapper Key Glock would take off. All of his releases since the summer of 2017 project-wise have charted on the Billboard 200.
Dolph would earn his first Billboard Hot 100 placement with “Cut It,” peaking at #35 as well as peaking at #6 on the Rap chart. He has improved his chart performance with all of his last four releases, including two Top 10 placements. “Major” would top the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, and the Megan Thee Stallion assisted song “RNB” would peak at #2 on the same chart.
Dolph’s latest effort, Rich Slave, would peak at #4 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Rap chart, marking his seventh official studio album release.
