Mike Posner Biography
American singer Mike Posner was born in 1988 in Detroit, Michigan. Posner began his foray into the music industry as a record producer, initially working with Big Sean on his music. After releasing a series of mixtapes, and while he was still a student at Duke University, Posner signed his first record deal with RCA Records and left his studies behind for a future as a musician.
Mike Posner’s debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, was a hit upon its release in 2010. The album spawned the top forty singles “Bow Chicka Wow Wow,” “Please Don’t Go,” and the number six hit “Cooler Than Me.” The album itself rose to the number eight spot on the mainstream charts, and set the stage for the follow-up EP, The Truth (2015.)
The Truth was even more successful than 31 Minutes to Takeoff; it spawned the mega-hit “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” and the remix of the song rose to the top o fthe charts internationally, reaching the number four spot in the United States and the number one spot in several other countries. The song also earned Mike Posner his first Grammy Award nomination for Song of the Year.
Mike Posner is a musician on the rise and definitely one to watch in the coming years. In addition to his own music, Posner is known for writing or co-writing a number of other hits for other artists, including: “Sugar” ( Maroon 5), “Beneath Your Beautiful” (Labrinth), and “Boyfriend” ( Justin Bieber.)
