The American rapper known as Waka Flocka Flame was born Juaquin Malphurs in 1986 in Queens, New York. Waka Flocka Flame rose to prominence in 2009 with his hit single “No Hands,” which rose into the top twenty on the mainstream charts. But long before that, Waka Flocka Flame grew up in the Atlanta area of Georgia, growing up influenced by the area’s strong music influences and opportunities.
Prior to “No Hands,” Waka Flocka Flame released the single “O Let’s Do It,” which performed well enough to garner him attention from critics and fans alike. Shortly after his breakthrough hit “No Hands,” Waka Flocka Flame released the debut album Flockaveli, which, thanks in part to the strength of its already successful first two singles, rose to the number six spot on the mainstream charts. The album was followed by Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family, and the additional singles: “Grove St Party” (featuring Kebo Gotti), “She Be Puttin’ On (featuring Guci Mane), “Round of Applause” (featuring Drake), “I Don’t Really Care” (featuring Trey Songz), and “Get Low,” (featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida.)
Waka Flocka Flame has also appeared on singles by a number of other artists, including: Soulja Boy (“Bingo”); MGK (“Wild Boy”); The Cataracs (“All You”); Bei Maejor (“Lights Down Low”); will.i.am, Lil Wayne, and Britney Spears (“Scream & Shout”); and Steve Aoki (“Rage The Night Away.”) Most recently, Waka Flocka Flame released the album Flockaveli 2 in 2014.
