The rapper known as Trinidad James was born in 1987 in Port of Spain, but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and then later South Carolina. As a teenager, Trinidad James harbored a love of basketball and rap, but it wasn’t until recently that he burst onto the music scene with his debut single “All Gold Everything,” which rose into the top ten on the R&B and rap charts, and into the top forty on the mainstream charts in the United States.
Since then, Trinidad James has released the mixtapes Don’t Be S.A.F.E. (2012) and 10 Pc Mild (2013), and the additional single “Females Welcomed.” In addition to his own work, Trinidad James has collaborated with a number of other rappers and performers on singles as a featured artist, including: “I Love This Shit” (with August Alsina); “That Turn Up” (with Mike WiLL Made It); “M.O.E.” (with Cash Out); “No Room” (with 8Ball); “Purple Haze” (with Curren$y and Lloyd); “On the Low” (with Logic and Kid Ink); “Work” (with A$AP Ferg, ASAP Rocky, and Schoolboy Q); and “Make Ya Scream” (with Chevy Woods.)
Trinidad James currently has plans for a digital and free release of his debut album, scheduled for the near future. Although he’d initially signed with Def Jam Records after his early success, he and the label recently parted ways and Trinidad plans to move forward with his career independently.
