The American rapper known as Skizzy Mars was born Myles Mills in 1993. Mills grew up in the Harlem area of New York, where his parents (a therapist and early childhood education expert) operated a series of daycare centers in Manhattan. After graduating from high school himself, Myles first sought to pursue a career in sports journalism, but studying at Union College he instead fell in love with music and decided to pursue a career as a performer.
After adopting the moniker Skizzy Mars, Myles released his first two mixtapes—Phrases (2013) and Pace (2014.) Both received critical acclaim, setting the stage for Skizzy’s debut EP, The Red Balloon Project, which rose into the top forty on the mainstream charts in the United States upon its release in 2015. Between 2014 and 2015, Skizzy Mars also appeared on a number of singles by other artists, including “Used to Be the Shit” (with Miniature Tigers) and “We Go Back” (with Chinah.)
Today, Skizzy Mars is an American rap performer on the rise. Only a few years into his career, Skizzy has also released his debut album, Along Together (2016), which rose to the number fifty position on the mainstream charts. Mars also recently appeared on the collaborative single “Steady 1234,” featuring DJ Vice and Jasmine Thompson.
