Gunna Biography
Gunna is an American rapper born Sergio Giabanni Kitchens in 1993. He was born in College Park, Georgia, and raised there by his mother along with his four older brothers. He began making music at age 15 and cities Cam’ron and Outkast as influences. He graduated from Langston Hughes High School before dropping his first project Hard Body in 2013 under the name Yung Gunna. Gunna was soon introduced to Young Thug and grew up as good friends with fellow rapper Lil Baby. He was soon signed to Thug’s YSL Records. He released the single “Floyd Mayweather” in 2016 with Thug and soon released his debut mixtape Drip Season.
Drip Season 2 was released the following year along with the EP Drip or Drown produced by Wheezy. Drip Season 3 was soon released in 2018 to much critical acclaim and had an array of features. A joint project with Lil Baby quickly arrived later that year entitled Drip Harder. Gunna’s debut studio album was released in 2019, entitled Drip or Drown 2.
Drip Season 3 was Gunna’s first project to chart, hitting #55 on the Billboard 200 and #20 on the Rap Albums chart. His collaborative effort with Lil Baby, Drip Harder, debuted at #4 and was later certified Platinum. “Drip Too Hard” was certified quintuple Platinum and peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200. His debut album Drip or Drown 2 debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and charted in numerous other countries. The singles “One Call” and “Speed It Up” were both certified Gold and peaked at #56 and #91 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively.
Gunna appeared on Young Thug’s 2019 album So Much Fun and the deluxe version of the project as well. He continues to release a numerous amount of singles as well. Gunna is currently working on Super Slimey 2 with Young Thug and Lil Baby.
