Pastor Troy Biography
The American rapper known as Pastor Troy was born Micah LeVar Troy in 1977 in College Park, Georgia. Long before Pastor Troy rose to fame as a member of the rap group Down South Georgia Boys, young Micah grew up inspired by the era’s burgeoning rap and hip-hop genre, and by the time he graduated from high school, he knew he wanted to pursue a career as a performer.
After adopting the moniker Pastor Troy, Micah released his solo debut album We Ready (I Declare War) in 1999. Almost immediately after, he joined Down South Georgia Boys and with them he released the album I Am D.S.G.B. in 2000. While still a member of D.S.G.B., Pastor Troy has continued to release more than twenty solo albums over the last two decades, including the notable: Face Off (2001), Universal Soldier (2002), By Any Means Necessary (2004), Stay Tru (2006), Tool Muziq (2007), Attitude Adjuster (2008), Ready for War (2009), Zero Tolerance (2010), and Still Troy (2011.)
Notable singles from Pastor Troy’s albums include the R&B hits “Vice Versa” and “Are We Cuttin,” in addition to other singles such as: “You Can’t Pimp Me,” “Ridin’ Big,” “Pop a Few Bottles,” “Heaven is Below,” “Comin Wit Me,” and “Dirty Atlanta.” Pastor Troy continues to perform and record, both as a solo artist and in collaboration on other projects. Pastor Troy’s most recent album release, Welcome to the Rap Game, arrived in 2014.
